Ornaments of Ashikariyama

Modern ornaments produced by Yamaguchi Kayo
as maekake and miokuri

A number of valuable ornaments have survived together with the Ashikari-yama float, including old clothing designated as an important cultural property, former front tapestry ("maekake"), side tapestry ("dokake"), and rear over-tapestry ("miokuri"). There are also such modern ornaments as maekake and miokuri produced by Yamaguchi Kayo, a popular Japanese painter, as well as dokake based on a picture by Ogata Korin, a master artist from the Edo period.
